Waterville Valley BBTS and Waterville Valley Academy will be searching for a new Executive Director and Head of School to begin in the late spring of 2023. The organization was recently recertified as a US Ski and Snowboard Gold Level Club, and in early 2021 WVA was reaccredited in the New England Association of Schools and College’s Five-Year Review accreditation process.

Shortly after completing the club certification process and after obtaining a positive reaccreditation report from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Tory Amorello informed the board of trustees that after a transformative five-year tenure she intended for the 2022-23 year to be her final year with the organization. “I am so proud of the work that we’ve done since I came on board in 2018. It’s validating to hear the feedback from the certification and reaccreditation committees that they can clearly see what we have done. The position and momentum of the entire organization are extremely strong. I’m leaving the club and academy in a better place than when I came in, and believe this is a great time for a leadership transition which will allow us to sustain our progress,” says Amorello.

Under Amorello, the organization has found solid financial footing and initiated new fundraising efforts. The academic and athletic staffs have been reinvigorated, and student enrollment numbers have increased and stabilized. New athletic programs for young skiers were created, and two significant infrastructure projects have been completed, including a renovated 3,000sq’ club house and the construction of a new 5,500sq’ competition center, both at the base of the ski area at Waterville Valley Resort.

Terry Driscoll, Chair of the Board, commented, “I’ve been a member of this club for over twenty years, and a board member for the last ten, and I cannot recall ever seeing the organization in a stronger position than we’re in today. We’ve appreciated Tory’s leadership, vision, and discipline through a critical time, and wish her and her family the very best. Looking forward we now begin the search for a qualified leader who has the capacity and vision to continue to build on the impressive foundation of academic and athletic excellence along with a strong sense of community that Tory has set in place today.”

With Amorello’s intended departure in June of 2023, The WVBBTS Board of Trustees has convened a search committee to find the next Executive Director and Head of School. The position is anticipated to be posted in late December, and individuals who wish to inquire are encouraged to reach out to Robert Mann, Search Committee chair at lawmann1@aol.com
