WVA Athletes train to compete in slopestyle, big air, rail, and halfpipe contests. Training in the winter months takes place at Waterville Valley Resort on a terrain park built by WVA Staff. In the off-season, on-snow training takes place yearly at Mt. Hood and at Mt Sima.

During the summer and fall athletes will be perfecting their acrobatic skills a the trampolines at the Thomas Barbeau Training Center and on the BagJump at Phil’s Hill on the WVA campus.

WVA has worked and produced many US Ski Team Members, including Hunter  Henderson, Grace Henderson,  & Julia Krauss

Dan Shuffleton // Freeski, Freestyle & Snowboard Director

Dan brings more than 15 years of freeski and acrobatic training experience to WVBBTS.  He is a Level 400 certified Aerial coach.  He has worked with athletes who have appeared on both the national and international freeskiing scene.   In 2014 and 2020, US Ski & Snowboard named Dan the U.S. Freeskiing Domestic Coach of Year.

Matt has been a full-time coach for WVBBTS/WVA since 2016. Matt was a WVA athlete himself where he competed and trained with Coach Dan Shuffleton. Matt is passionate about physical training and is a certified personal trainer and is often seen leading work-outs with athletes. In his free time, you can catch Matt cycling and climbing all over NH.
