Individualized instruction for accelerated learning
To help our students succeed in the classroom and on the snow, WVA offers multiple programs that coordinate rigorous classroom instruction with equally rigorous on-snow training.
Through small class sizes and dedicated educators, WVA succeeds in guiding students to higher levels of understanding, while accelerating the learning process. At WVA, athletic performance never overshadows performance in the classroom, and a majority of students enroll in a full curriculum of honors and/or Advanced Placement courses.
WVA students reside at the WVA dormitory or other nearby locations. Over the past six years WVA has enrolled students from over 20 states and several foreign countries representing over 110 home schools. WVA has approximately 70 students.

Train with Professional, Nationally Recognized Coaches
Every season, alumni from each program can be found excelling on snow, in the classroom, and at every level of competition. Whether your prospective student is committed to alpine, racing, or freestyle skiing or snowboarding, our goal is to provide the training and instruction that sets them apart.
In all three sports, students train rigorously with professional coaches dedicated to helping each student perform at their maximum potential. Through constant support and dedicated training programs, coaches for every sport help each student achieve mutually developed goals.

With its roots as one of the oldest ski clubs in the country, Waterville Valley Black and Blue Trail Smashers/Ski Education Foundation has evolved into the Northeast’s premier Snowsports training and competition center.
The ski club was founded in the 1930s, before Waterville Valley Resort was opened. BBTS, an acronym for Black and Blue Trail Smashers, was a common name among the skiers cutting their first trails along Mount Tecumseh. In the 1960's the club transitioned to an alpine competition program and has since hosted 11 World Cups and has been named USSA “Snowboard Club of the Year” and overall “Club of the Year”. Its leaders have contributed significantly to the formation of national and international governing organizations – the Federation du Ski (FIS), the U. S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and the United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA.) The Club is a USSA Gold Certified Club and in 2015 was designated as a Community Olympic Development Program by the US Olympic Committee.
We live our motto of Pioneering Snowsports and Cultivating Tomorrow’s Leaders.
