CAMP LOCATION:
Zillertal Glacier, Hintertux, Austria
The Thomas P.
Barbeau Summer Ski Camp is an alpine ski camp
conducted on the Zillertal glacier located in
the Tyrol Alps in Austria, 1.5 hours southeast
of Innsbruck. Glacier skiing guarantees
that there will be good snow year round. The
lift system includes three gondolas, two
chairlifts, and four T-bars. The number of lifts
insure little or no lift lines, which equates to
more time on the snow (more
information on the facilities)!
Hintertux is the
summer training site for the Austrian,
Slovenian, German, Canadian, and U.S. ski teams.
The 4-Star Alpenhof Hotel is our home during our
stay.
Modern Ski Racing Techniques:
The program is designed to introduce the
latest in World Cup technique and ingrain the
correct fundamentals and basics of ski racing to
improve the athlete both as a racer and a skier.
Summer skiing is the perfect time to learn,
practice new skills and build a winning
foundation. The coaching staff uses daily video
taping, giving athletes instant feedback on
their progress.
Age Levels and Philosophy:
All levels of J1, J2, J3, J4 and J5 racers are
welcome.
The camp’s philosophy is to develop each
individual athlete at his or her own pace and
instill a hard work ethic both technically on
the slopes and athletically through daily
conditioning.
Off-Snow Activities:
Off-Snow activities include mountain runs,
hiking, tennis, football, soccer, swimming,
mountain biking and sight-seeing along with
visits to Innsbruck and the legendary Kitzbuhel.
