Alpine Training Philosophy

WVBBTS has a longstanding tradition of offering top-level alpine training programs.  The alpine on-snow programs combine training techniques from the US, Austrian, Canadian and Slovenian Ski Federations.  The alpine off-snow conditioning and rehabilitation programs follow the Burdenko Method developed by Russian sports scientist Dr. Igor Burdenko.  A typical training session includes an on-snow warm up and a skill refinement session on an alpine race course.  J1-J5 and Masters athletes are also typically involved in video review at the bottom of the hill during a training session.

Waterville Valley Ski Area (the WVBBTS training hill) offers a variety of excellent alpine training venues.  These venues combined with an experienced and professional coaching staff led by Tom Barbeau, enable our athletes to reach the highest level of athletic excellence.  Click here for more details on Waterville Valley Academy athletics
