Waterville Valley Black & Blue Trail Smashers Ski Educational Foundation

Mitey Mites Program Overview

The Mitey Mites program is a pre-competition development program designed for boys and girls ages 5-9.  The program offers an opportunity for children to explore the various skiing disciplines (both alpine and freestyle), preparing participants to enter the competitive program of their choice.  For information about the GROMS Snowboard Development Program click here.  For more information about the Lil' Rippers Freestyle Development Program click here.

Alpine Mitey Mite participants should have the ability to ski green and blue trails at a skill level that enables them to keep up with a group.  Emphasis is placed on having fun, developing a lifelong love of the sport and building skills all at the same time.  We foster healthy competition, good sportsmanship, team work and social interaction along with development of independence and responsibility.

We encourage parents to be part of the program by talking with their children about training, upcoming events and activities.  Providing positive reinforcement for your children for all Mitey Mites activities will help foster their love of skiing or riding and winter.

Mitey Mites Schedule

The Mitey Mites program operates every Saturday and Sunday from the Saturday after Thanksgiving through the last weekend in March.  The program also includes December school vacation week and either Massachusetts or New Hampshire February vacation week.  Training sessions run from 9:15 am - 11:15 am and 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm.

It is our goal over the course of the season for Mitey Mites participants (with the help and encouragement of their parents) to accomplish the following:

  • develop stronger skiing skills through a progression of on snow activities

  • display a positive attitude and good sportsmanship

  • learn to train in a group setting

  • work well with other children and coaches

  • have a fun and safe experience
