JI - JV Alpine Program

WVBBTS delivers programming to support alpine athletes competing anywhere from the JV local competition level to the JI/II NOR AM FIS level.  Waterville Valley Academy offers a full time academic and athletic program for alpine athletes at the JI-JIV level.  The BBTS Ski Club offers a weekend training program for JI-JV athletes.

JIV and JV Alpine Program

The JIV and JV alpine programs form the WVBBTS development pipeline for building strong alpine athletes for the more competitive JI, JII, and JIII programs.  The JV program is for young athletes ages 9-10 as of 12/31/07.  The JIV program is for young athletes ages 11-12 as of 12/31/07.

Most of the JIV and JV program participants’ time is spent developing racing skills and technique and skiing in all types of conditions and on a variety of terrain.  Athletes in the JIV and JV program compete in a limited number of open USSA events as well as in the northern division Buddy Werner League.

JIV and JV athletes aspire to win the Club Team Trophy at the Buddy Werner Championships at the JIV or JV level and be placed on the JIV or JV Buddy Werner League State Team.  Top JV athletes aspire to ultimately participate in the Francis Piche Invitational event and top JIV athletes aspire to participate in the Future Stars and ultimately the Whistler Cup competitions.

            JIII Alpine Program

The JIII alpine program provides athletes with the opportunity to refine existing skills, acquire new skills and increase their participation in competitions.  The JIII alpine program is for athletes ages 13-14 as of 12/31/07.

JIII athletes compete in about 15-20 events each season consisting primarily of USSA events.  Top JIII athletes aspire to compete in the Eastern JIII Finals, the Junior III Olympics and ultimately the Whistler Cup.

JI, JII  and Senior Program

The JI and JII alpine program provides athletes with the opportunity to refine their skills during training and significantly increase the number of competitions which they participate in each season.  The JI, JII and senior alpine program is for athletes ages 15 and up as of 12/31/07.

JI and JII athletes compete in approximately 25-50 races each season consisting primarily of USSA events.  JI and JII athletes may qualify for FIS competitions based on their ability and appropriate level of USSA points.  Top JII athletes aspire to ultimately compete at JII US National Championships and top JI athletes aspire to ultimately compete at the US Alpine National Championships.
