Waterville Valley Black and Blue Trail Smashers Snowsports Educational Foundation (WVBBTS), also known as BBTS, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational foundation which operates Waterville Valley Academy, founded in 1972, and the BBTS Snowsports Club, which was organized in 1934 and is one of the oldest snowsports clubs in the country.

We offer training programs for alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, and competitive snowboarding with outstanding coaching for athletes who are dedicated to pursuing the next level of skill development and acquisition. Our core values of Excellence, Integrity, Teamwork and Learning, encompass the entire BBTS experience from the weekend programs to our full time programs at Waterville Valley Academy.

BBTS has adopted an instructional and training philosophy which focuses on the “whole” athlete.  This philosophy encompasses academics in the case of WVA students as well as athletics, conditioning, nutrition, life skills and independence. BBTS offers each of its athletes a robust curriculum of “lifelong lessons” in character building, self-discipline, leadership skills, commitment, confidence, independence, respect and integrity.  Through this philosophy WVBBTS inspires each athlete to strive for excellence in all aspects of his or her life, differentiating each of them from the traditional athlete. BBTS encourages all parents to partake in this philosophy.
Our vision is to be the best snowsports training and competition organization in the United States by fielding the most successful competitors at local, regional and national team levels, and by giving young athletes the strong values and rich experiences that will guide them in their adult lives.
Our mission is to foster integrity, discipline, competence and achievement in young people through participation in competitive snowsports. We give young athletes of all ages, abilities, backgrounds and commitment levels the opportunity to enjoy and achieve excellence in alpine racing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding. We do this by providing professionally staffed, first-rate, year-round programs in a healthy, family-friendly environment. We are committed to:
  • Offering weekend programs characterized by a sense of family and widespread participation in, commitment to, and enthusiasm and support for snowsports training and competition.

  • Operating a leading snowsports academy for young people characterized by the highest quality academic education, outstanding competitive results and meaningful parental involvement.
